CAR SHIELD

CAR SHIELD is an application that helps protect a vehicle from relevant weather events (especially hail risk and related alerts), with map, estimates and, where provided, voice guidance.

This notice explains which data are needed for the service, what we do not do, and how external services work.

>_ 1. HOW_IT_WORKS

CAR SHIELD uses the vehicle location (and, if enabled, the phone or a linked GPS tracker) to:

• show local weather context;
• update the radar layer on the map;
• compute risk estimates and alert phases;
• suggest nearby shelters when requested;
• play a weather voice bulletin (TTS), when enabled.

Without location, the service cannot work correctly.

>_ 2. LOCATION

Data processed: geographic coordinates, optional reverse-geocoded addresses on device, country code.

Purpose: forecasts, radar, alerts and features tied to the vehicle position.

Retention: on device (local preferences) and, for service requests, transmission to the weather/radar backend required to operate. We do not use location for advertising profiling.

Android permissions: location and, if used, notifications / background execution for alerts.

>_ 3. ALERTS_AND_NOTIFICATIONS

If you enable alerts, CAR SHIELD may send notifications and, where provided, voice messages related to weather risk at the set location. In countries not covered by the service package, these features remain disabled or limited.

>_ 4. TECHNICAL_PROVIDERS

• weather/radar backend operated for CAR SHIELD (weather context, radar tiles, support data);
• Europe radar: EUMETNET OPERA / Open Radar Data (CC BY 4.0 licence);
• Italy radar / hail: Italian Civil Protection (DPC) products;
• Switzerland radar / hail: MeteoSwiss Open Data (PRECIP + POH), CC BY 4.0 licence — mandatory attribution: Source: MeteoSwiss;
• Germany radar / hail: DWD Open Data HymecNG, CC BY 4.0 licence — mandatory attribution: Source: Deutscher Wetterdienst;
• Spain radar: AEMET national composite, reuse under Ley 18/2015 — mandatory attribution: Source: AEMET;
• OpenStreetMap / osmdroid for in-app map tiles;
• device location / geocoder services, if available;
• optional GPS tracker (e.g. PAJ / Traccar) only if configured by the user.

Navigation: if you choose “open navigator”, CAR SHIELD opens the Google Maps app already installed on your phone. Navigation uses your Maps account and data, not Maps APIs embedded by us.

>_ 5. WHAT_WE_DO_NOT_DO

• No advertising in the app;
• No analytics on personal data (no Firebase Analytics / Advertising ID for personal analysis or marketing);
• we do not sell your data to third parties for advertising.

“Offered by Radio Granellik” applies only to the weather TTS bulletin, when present — it is not in-app advertising.

>_ 6. SUBSCRIPTION

CAR SHIELD is ad-free. Planned model: 7-day free trial, then €4/month or €30/year via Google Play. Prices and taxes (VAT) follow Google Play Billing and the rules of the user’s country.

>_ 7. COVERAGE

The service is not worldwide. Some European countries are fully covered, some have limited coverage, others are not covered. Outside coverage, forecasts/alerts/voice guidance are unavailable.

>_ 8. YOUR_RIGHTS

Under the GDPR (where applicable) you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact: axodea@gmail.com.
